A Little Origin Teaser

6:52 PM Vi Nguyen 0 Comments

Jen posted an Origin teaser yesterday:

“You have no idea…” I ran out of words at that point. Her being this close after so long was the sweetest kind of torture. Each breath she took, I felt in every part of my body, in some areas more than others. Really inappropriate, but she always had a powerful hold over me. Common sense jumped out the window.

What do you think? Excited for this one, aren't you?

I've been seeing reader updates on Twitter from those who got an early eARC and everyone is loving it so far. I seriously can't wait to read it!

- Apollyon is #151

Jen deserves all this recognition and more! Congrats!

Jen recently posted this photo of the original Half-Blood manuscript from 2008. Eeppp!!!! What I wouldn't give to take a look at that thing!

Obsidian Movie News on Hollywood Crush

1:21 PM Vi Nguyen 1 Comments

Continuing with the awesome news on Obsidian, the movie, Hollywood Crush calls Obsidian "the next big thing in supernatural romance" and asks "Could this be the epic saga that gives the other saga a run for its money?".

Well, I'd like to think so!

You can also find a similar report from Yahoo! Movies, too.

Also, be sure to check out Jen's thoughts on the movie, complete with Supernatural gifs, of course!

My Review of Frigid by J. Lynn

9:00 AM Vi Nguyen 2 Comments

I finally got the Traveling ARC! Totally tagged up the cover and underlined a few of my favorite lines from the book, which I think the winner will LOVE, too! I adored this book SO much and a BIG THANKS to Val at Stuck in Books for letting me take part in the cool tour!

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love. Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have. But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

My Review

Frigid is phenomenal. Just pure JLA perfection. I don’t know how she does it, but Jen has the ability to create such entertaining and engrossing plots that keep you glued to the pages. She creates such mesmerizing and relatable characters that truly resonate with you. And, I just adore her witty and humorous writing style that sets her apart from all the other authors out there today. In Frigid, you get two best friends who’ve secretly been in love with each other for years, who get snowed in together and eventually come to terms with their feelings for one another. Add a bunch of hilarious one-liners (like “Oh sweet baby Jesus on a merry-go-round”), some sweet and steamy moments, entertaining dialogue, and a bit of mystery and suspense – well, you’ve got yourself an outstanding book right there.

Kyler. First off, I have to say that JLA needs to stop creating such irresistible and swoonworthy guys! I want them all! I was immediately attracted to Kyler and loved him more and more with each page. He’s pretty much your typical charming, good-looking guy who can sweep any girl off her feet, but he’s also a real good guy at heart, totally not a douchebag at all. I loved how attuned he was to Sydney, even though he didn’t know she loved him, and it was cute seeing how they played off each others words and actions. I think what got to me the most, was how innocent and sweet Kyler is. When he inevitably learns of Syd’s true feelings for him, it’s like “wow, she actually likes me” in a humbling way that portrayed him thinking how lucky he is for Syd to even consider him, which isn’t something you’d expect from someone who exudes confidence and sex appeal like Kyler does. There are definitely smexy times and that boy can steam up a window like nobody’s business, but I loved his sweet and caring side the most. He really got me with that ending, I’ll tell you that.

Sydney would probably be one of the very few female characters I’ve read about that I’ve truly connected with/related to. She reminded me so much of myself, I loved her right from the start. There were quite a few moments where I seriously thought I was reading about myself, it was crazy. Oh, if only I had someone like Kyler though. After feeling a bit jaded from her last boyfriend, it’s not hard to believe that she thinks she’s not attractive or sex enough for someone like Kyler. I liked that even though it broke her heart to see Kyler go from girl to girl, she was still a great best friend to him so much so that I felt the ease and naturalness of their friendship come alive from off the pages. Being inside her head was great too, as she had some hilarious thoughts here and there, and you know I don’t say that often because I tend to dislike being inside a girl’s head. I think, besides Alex from the Covenant series, Sydney would be my favorite JLA girl.

Frigid will leave you desperately wanting more and wishing you had someone like Kyler in your life. Just, sigh…Kyler. I think what I loved most about this story, besides Kyler himself, was how genuine and touching Syd and Kyler’s relationship is. I loved catching glimpses of their friendship in the past and just how strong their bond really is. Easily one of my favorite books from JLA, Frigid is an endearing, heartfelt love story between two fantastic characters that will have you smiling from beginning to end.

Frigid Blog Tour - Excerpt & Giveaway

9:00 AM Vi Nguyen 25 Comments

I am SO excited to be taking part of the Frigid Blog Tour along with some fantastic bloggers. What makes this tour so special is that it's a "Kyler Q&A" blog tour only! That's right! If you've been following along you've probably got quite a bit of insight into the delicious mind that is Kyler Quinn.

What Q&A have I got for you today?

Question #9

You’re going out to eat for the perfect meal. Where are you going? Who’s with you? What are you eating?

I really love steak. I probably would’ve chosen Outback because, damn, those Bloomin’ Onions are the shit, but I hate to take Syd back there anytime soon. I don’t want it to bother her after the disaster the last time we had dinner there together. I guess I’ll have to go with Longhorn then. I do like the Wild West Shrimp appetizer there. It’s no Bloomin’ Onion, but I could make the sacrifice if it makes Sydney more comfortable because that’s who I would want to go with me.

Question #10 will be answered at Books Complete Me. Here's what Kyler will answer:

Tell us something about you that we don’t learn in the book?

I've also got a nice little excerpt for you all to enjoy:

A kiss? I shouldn’t even be thinking that, for a multitude of reasons. He only saw me as his friend, and God only knows where his mouth had been in the last twenty-four hours. Thinking that should have dampened my arousal, but it didn’t. My imagination pictured his hands slipping around my hips to cup my ass. My skin tingled all over at the thought of that. Warmth flooded my cheeks and I sucked in a sharp breath.

“What are you thinking?”

My head jerked up at the deepness in his voice, and he let go of my hips. I immediately missed his touch. “Uh, nothing—nothing at all.”

He arched his brow, but said nothing. “Want to head in and turn on the lights while I get the luggage?”

(Page 39 of the ARC)

It really sucks that both Cam and Daemon lost in their respective Crush Tourneys, but they held up strongly and did JLA proud nonetheless. Lets hope more readers learned about the Lux and Wait for You series either way.

JLA still graced fans with a couple of teaser pics as a little consolation prize. Thanks Jen!
