A Sweet and Juicy Opal Teaser

9:12 PM Vi Nguyen 0 Comments

Jen gave fans a treat today by teasing us with this little tidbit from Opal.

I pulled back, drawing in a sharp breath. Our eyes locked. A wealth of emotion shone in his brilliant green eyes. He cupped my cheek with one hand tenderly, and he spoke in his lovely language. It sounded like three lyrical words—a short, beautiful verse. “What did you say?” I asked, my fingers loosening around the cover. His smile was secretive and then his lips were on mine again and my eyes drifted shut. I let go of the blanket, felt it slip away, pool around my hips, and I felt Daemon stop breathing for a moment.

I think I have an idea what Daemon said and that last part when Daemon stopped breathing for a sec, WHEW! I'm seriously dying for this book!

More Awesome Apollyon Teasers!

9:00 AM Vi Nguyen 2 Comments

I am seriously loving all these Apollyon teasers Jen keeps tweeting, but I really need this book like yesterday!

Here's one where there appears to be a crazy ass little battle between Alex and some pretty awesome Gods:

“One down,” I said, turning around. “Who’s ne—?”
Thanatos tossed Marcus to the ground, deflected Solos’ attack, and turned on me in a nanosecond. It was pretty epic.
A bolt of white light flew from Thanatos’ hand and there wasn’t a single thing in this world that could move fast enough. Not even Seth, I was betting.
It hit me just below the chest and my legs collapsed from underneath me. Red-hot, searing pain sliced through my skin and my face smacked off the ground. I didn’t even feel it. There was nothing but the razing pain locking up my muscles.
God bolts sucked.
Aiden yelled my name, and then I thought I heard my name called again, but it was inside my head, loud, and so very angry… and it sounded like Seth.
Without any warning, the ground trembled under my twitching body. A flash of golden light cascaded through the clearing. Warmth stole over my body. Weakly, I lifted my head.
Two leather-clad legs stood before me.
“That is enough, Thanatos.” Apollo’s voice was calm, but it was that creepy, deadly calm I never wanted to be on the receiving end of.
“N-n-nice of y-you to s-show up,” I gasped.
“Shut up, Alex.” Apollo strode forward. A ray of light followed his steps.

And a funny little bit between Apollo and Alex (I love their interactions!):

“They do.” Apollo’s eyes narrowed on me. “But I was hoping there was something knocking around in her brain that held the answer to that little problem. But—” Apollo smacked a hand down on my leg. “Must you always be moving some part of your body?”
I glared at him as I not-so-gently removed his hand. The contact of his flesh on mine brought the marks of Apollyon out like nothing else. And I knew he saw them by the way his eyes darted over my face. “It’s not hurting you,” I said.
“It’s annoying.”
“You’re annoying,” I shot back.

Ummm, is it April yet?!?!?! Sigh...

A Curious Apollyon Teaser

10:00 PM Vi Nguyen 2 Comments

Oh, this one really gets you thinking! Gods, I want this book right now!

His all-white eyes gleamed. “I’ve seen it all in battle. There is the way the body curls into itself when it wants death. There is the silent scream for release. There are the eyes, and they speak even when the tongue no longer works. And then there is the soul that rots so poorly when death is wanted but withheld that it carries a certain stench.” Ice shot through my veins, turning my blood to slush. At that moment I knew no matter how much I fought, this… this was going to suck.

Another Opal Teaser

10:42 AM Vi Nguyen 1 Comments

Oh boy, this one that Jen posted on her Facebook page is a juicy one, lol.

Daemon pulled back, brows raised. “Kitten…” “Okay.” I scooted back and he followed, climbing over me, his arms huge and powerful. God, I was in way over my head with him sometimes. “You might be right, but you’re wasting time.” “I’m always right.” I opened my mouth to disagree, but his lips took control of mine, and his kiss reached deep down inside me, melted muscle and bone. His tongue swept over mine, and at that moment, he could have been right all he wanted as long as he kept kissing me like that.

Apollyon & Opal Teasers

7:06 PM Vi Nguyen 7 Comments

Oh, Jen! Forever the tease!

Enjoy some juicy tidbits from Apollyon & Opal:

My feet touched the ground and I took a step forward—one, and then another. And Aiden didn’t move. He waited. It was in those eyes of his, the finality of this. He wouldn’t win, he couldn’t and he knew it. Aiden accepted it. As I reached him, the rain stopped and the clouds parted. The sun followed my footsteps. “Alex.” Aiden’s voice was broken. Like a cobra striking, I took Aiden’s legs out from under him and he was on his back before another breath could be taken. Straddling him, I placed my hands on his shoulders. The marks of the Apollyon glowed a vibrant blue and raced over my skin. I leaned in, placing my lips above his and the words that came out of my mouth were mine… but weren’t. “All moments end, Saint Delphi. And now yours has.” I pressed my lips to the corner of his and he flinched. “You are weak because you love.” Aiden stared up at me, unblinking. “To love is not weak. Love is the strongest thing there is.” My lips curved into a smile. Idiot.

Dawson raised his arm and two DVDs shot into his hand. “Uh, we have Diary of the Dead and Survival of the Dead.” “Great,” Daemon muttered. I rolled my eyes. “Wussy.” “Whatever.” He elbowed me, knocking a kernel of popcorn between my chest and notebook. I sighed. “Want me to get that for you?” he asked. Shooting him a look, I dug it out and then tossed it in his face. “You’re going to be grateful when the zombie apocalypse occurs and I know what to do because of my zombie fetish.” He looked doubtful. “There are better fetishes out there, Kitten. I could show you a few.” “Uh, no, thank you.” But I did flush. And there were a lot of images that suddenly polluted my brain. “Aren’t you supposed to go to the nearest Costco or something?” Dawson asked, letting the DVDs float back to the coffee table. Daemon turned to his twin slowly, face incredulous. “And how would you know that?” He shrugged. “It’s in the Zombie Survival Guide.” “It is.” I nodded eagerly. “Costco has everything—thick walls, food, and supplies. They even sell guns and ammunition. You could hole up there for years while the zombies are getting their nom nom on.” Daemon’s mouth dropped open. “What?” I grinned. “Zombies got to eat, too, you know.”

I'm sure you're all DYING to get your hands on these books, just like I am! Oh, December & April need to get here ASAP!

Deacon Plans Aiden's Birthday Party

9:00 AM Vi Nguyen 2 Comments

How did I NOT know about this?!

Jennifer posted this cool picture of Deacon's plans for Aiden's birthday party like last year and I totally didn't find out about it until a few days ago, during the Deity blog tour. It's definitely one of the reasons why I love blog tours, discovering new things!

Hilarious!

Welcome to the Deity Blog Tour hosted by Stuck in Books. Today I've got the dashing Leon here who dishes on his favorite traits of Alex & Aiden's, what his favorite myth is, and so much more!

1. Why did you decide to become a sentinel?

Seemed like the thing to do at the time.

2. What is the thing you like most about Aiden? Alex?

Well, Aiden is remarkably loyal as is Alex. I like that about the two.

3. How is it you manage to appear at the most "opportune" times throughout all the books?!

I just have skills.

4. What is one of your favorite "myths"?

Anything to do with Hades and Persephone. Those two crazy kids.

5. Who is your favorite GREEK GOD and why?

Apollo. Because he's awesome.

6. There is a huge controversy going on now between the Pures, the Half-Bloods, and the Apollyons. What is your take on this and what do you hope to be the outcome?

Honestly? Could care less.

JLA Gets FRIGID!

9:00 AM Vi Nguyen 0 Comments

Guess what?!

Jen's got a new book coming out next year! Winter 2013, to be exact. Perfect time for the holidays and right after the Covenant series ends. Although I'll be sad to see my favorite series end, I'm looking forward to this book because it'll be apart of the "New Adult" genre, which makes it a little more mature and edgier. Love that!

Here are the details, straight from Jen's blog:

USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Armentrout writing as J. Lynn’s FRIGID, in which two lifelong friends, a guitar-strumming bad boy and a cautious bookworm, find themselves snowed in together over winter break and can no longer ignore the red-hot chemistry between them, that can melt snow but may also destroy their friendship, to Kate Kaynak and Patricia Riley at Spencerhill Press, for publication in Winter 2013, by Kevan Lyon at Marsal Lyon Literary Agency (World English). Foreign: Taryn Fagerness Agency

Frigid is a New Adult novel, meaning it falls in-between YA and Adult, and it’s under my pen name J. Lynn, The characters are in college and their names are Sydney Young and Kyler Quinn.

What are your thoughts?! Excited for this new chapter in Jen's writing career?

I love the guy's name, Kyler is so different than the usual, and I know he'll be a tasty dish!

JLA Reading Challenge for November #JLARC

12:00 AM Vi Nguyen 4 Comments

Welcome to the FOURTH MONTH of the JLA Reading Challenge!

If you have no clue what this is or would like to participate, check out the Sign-Up page where you can get all the details.

If you're already a participant, let's get this started!

This month's goal will be to read The Covenant Series, which includes:

Daimon - For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals—pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards... and that she'll never be prepared for that duty. According to her mother, that’s a good thing. But as every descendant of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return—the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death… because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill. The daimons have found her.

Half-Blood - The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

Pure - There is need. And then there is Fate... Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her. When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her. When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

Deity - History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday—to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner... and so is Aiden. If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"—which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time—she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome. But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she’s caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed. Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

Elixir - Aiden's novella Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex. Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for. Even if it means making war against the gods.
